Being Fat wasn’t in my life plan, I didn’t really think much about health and diet until the age of 15. This was the thing that old people do! I didn’t go to my school careers officer and say, ‘When I leave school I want to be fat’. Furthermore, I didn’t wake up one morning and make the conscious decision that I was going to be a big girl with extra bulk around my thighs, bottom and legs. No, it just kind of happened over a number of years, while I wasn’t looking. One minute I was underweight and had the teachers at school worried that I wasn’t eating enough. Then puberty hit, and for the briefest minute, I was slim. I quickly moved on to being ‘plump’, then ‘overweight’ and finally ‘obese’. For a goal, it has taken me 35 years to get here. If I had this as my life goal, then I can quite confidently say I am a success. But, I hate being fat!

So then, why would I write about being fat? I hate being fat. I always have and always will hate being fat. However, I have been on a diet since the age of 16, and then, I only weighed nine stone seven pounds. For my height that was a reasonable weight, I am five 5.6″.

Health and Diet or Being Fat for 35 Years is not Fun

Move on some years later, let’s say 35 years, and I am still trying to get the hang of being responsible for my health and diet and knowing what to do to lose weight.  You would have thought someone who has been on a diet for over 35 years would know what they are doing! On the whole, I do know what to do to stop being fat.  Eat less, Move more. It just sounds so simple, doesn’t it?  For me, it’s just not that simple. It’s laborious, time-consuming and to be honest a pain in the neck.

OK, let’s be honest here.  I tried to diet on my own last year and it worked to some extent. However, if I am honest, I didn’t really get anywhere. There was some success, I lost a few pounds here and there and put more on! Then a happy coincidence occurred, you could say serendipity….
